Beautiful Birmingham Competition
On the opening day of the show we will be unvieling our Beautiful Birmingham competition winners. With over 450 entries from across the region, our judge, David Rann had a tough time picking the final 3.
David told us ” It’s always difficult to choose just one image that embodies the essence of a theme like “Beautiful Birmingham” but even more so when there hundreds of entries which encompass every aspect of city life and utilise every photographic approach imaginable. My eventual shortlist was selected on the basis that there must be both “beauty” and something indisputably “Birmingham” in the image. Entries showed the city’s heritage as well as its modern optimism – sometimes at the same time. There is undoubtedly “beauty” in both but my ultimate decision was also influenced by that spontaneous heart-leap that occurs when an image “speaks” to you.

Album Gallery
This year, our Avante Albums will be featured in the new TPS Album Gallery. Forming part of the Wedding and Portrait stage in the left of the main hall, you will be able see the latest demos and wedding speakers whilst picking the perfect Avante album for your wedding packes. You can also enter our prize draw (back on our stand) to win an Avante Album of your choice!

Women Who Photo
We are very proud to support the Women Who Photo campaign at this years TPS.
According to Creative Boom: Despite there being a high percentage of female photography students on courses across the UK (often around 80% female to male ratio), the likelihood of them taking their skills to career-level drops dramatically. Those who do pursue their dream career are simply not shouting about their work in the same volume as their male counterparts. This campaign aims to empower both professionals and amateurs to shout about their passion and achievements.
The Photography Show has partnered with a selection of women who work across various areas of the industry and challenged them to select a piece of work that they have photographed or filmed that makes them feel empowered, which will be displayed at the event in March.
Many of the women involved will also lead talks at the show, discussing topics such as creating meaningful images, falling into filmmaking and what can go wrong in photography, alongside a host of technique-based seminars. Find our more here
